Grammys Inducts Afro-Soul Singer, Aramide

Afro-Soul singer, Aramide’s career went a notch higher, as she got inducted into the Recording Academy governing board of the Grammys.

Real names Aramide Sarumoh, the artiste known for songs such as ‘Iwo Nikan’ was inducted along with 18 others.

She revealed the good news in a series of tweet posted on her twitter handle, @AramideMusic.

Already an active voter of the Grammys recording academy for years, her good works inducted into board.

“And today I’m happy to announce to you that after being an active voting member of the recording academy for years, this Monday, I will be inducted into the Recording Academy (the GRAMMYs®) Governance Board. I will now be a part of the Governors for the Washington DC Chapter board’’.

An award-winning artiste, she picked the award for Best Vocal Performance at the Headies 2015 with the song “Iwo Nikan”.

She has since gone on to drop singles such as: “Killing Me’’, “It’s Over’’, “Feeling This Feeling’’, “I Don’t Care’’, “Love Me’’ and others.

Also invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science is Nigerian filmmaker Femi Odugbemi [Battleground, Gidi Blues] and 928 other people.

My Loyalty To Don Jazzy Exceeds Business-Dr. Sid

Singer, Dr. Sid has revealed that his loyalty to Don Jazzy exceeds the business connecting them.

Dr. Sid made this revelation during a recent interview. Asked if he was still signed to Mavin Records, the ‘Good Time’ singer revealed that his investment in the label goes beyond just being an artiste.

His word: “My loyalty and relationship with Don Jazzy is beyond the business.”

Dr. Sid also declared that his passion is what he wants to do with his music and not starting a record label.

“My career is fine, my business is being handled properly. I am not being cheated, I earned what I make because if I put out a single and it makes money, I get what I make, no issues. I understand the business module of a record label which is investing in you and needs to recoup its investment. With regards to my record label, I am fine; with regards to my contract, I am fine. In fact, I just signed a brand new contract for another four years. So, I am fine,” he said.

Drama: Late Ras Kimono’s Family Disclaim His Foundation

A foundation setup in the name of late legendary reggae artiste, Ras Kimono has been disclaimed by his family.

The foundation named “Ras Kimono Development Foundation” was  disclaimed by Ogemono, the first child of the Rub-a-Dub Master.

In what appeared a platform to celebrate the musician, the foundation was lunched in Asaba Delta State on Saturday, June 15, by individuals said to be lovers the music icon.

Speaking on the foundation, Oge Kimono said “I know that many people love my late father and are willing to celebrate him in different ways. We are most grateful for their show of love and affection. A foundation in the name of my father is a serious project that needs proper consultation with all my siblings and key people connected with the Kimono legacy. It should never be a project for a quick buck. For the avoidance of doubt, I will not be in Asaba for the purported lunch of the so called foundation which does not have my endorsement.”

Kimono’s legacy was celebrated on June 10, on his first death anniversary.

The event which held at the headquarters of the Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON), was as in two phases. The first phase was the ”Ras Kimono Memorial Lecture” which held in the morning at the Magnificent COSON House in Ikeja and chaired by the nation’s doyen of labour and intellectual Property law, the 83 year, old first chairman of the NCC, Prof Egerton Uvieghara.

The second phase of the Ras Kimono Memorial Day kicked off in the evening of June 10 with a blistering concert at the famous Niteshift Colieseum, Ikeja. Lighting up the ”Ras Kimono Memorial Jam” was the Nigeria’s who is who in reggae music. From Oritz Wiliki to Righteous Man to Buchi to Dede Mabiaku to Wadada to Oge and many more, backed by Kimono’s legendry Massive Dread band.

Assault: Critics Come For Peruzzi

Peruzzi’s faceoff with social media influencer, Pamilerin has been described as a publicity stunt.

This comes after the ‘Fine’ singer assaulted Pamilerin at a club opening event in Bayelsa State.

Criticised by his fans for reacting aggressively over an issue that took place earlier in the year, Peruzzi apologised, adding that he was wrong to have allowed his emotions to get the best of him.

In a post on social media, he said: “I did very wrong for slapping Mr. Pamilerin. I let my feelings get the best of me and I am very sorry. Apologies to Mr. Pamilerin and also to the general public, I’d never get into such mess again. Love only, I promise.”

Music fans have however described the apology as part of the initial publicity stunt.

Meanwhile, Pamilerin seems to be set to seek redress in court for the assault. In a social media post, he said he would seek redress in court irrespective of the apology.
