Governor Rabiu Kwakwanso has stated that President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is responsible for the unrest in Kano State.

According to him, President Jonathan should be held responsible for the unrest which has arisen in the state following the emergence of Sanusi Lamido as the new Emir of Kano.

The Governor also accused President Jonathan of planning to have him killed.

The Kano State governor went on to say that the president has withdrawn half of the security details attached to him in the past few days.

According to him, “the people of Kano, my friends, Nigerians and of course, the international community are to hold Jonathan responsible for whatever happens to me, my family or even the people of Kano state.
“A sitting president brewing a crisis in a state like Kano? Everybody in this country knows that it is Jonathan that is creating this problem in Kano. I am yet to know why, but posterity will clearly show what his intentions are,” he said.

Kwankwaso further stated that the inability of the new Emir of Kano to enter his palace is down to a police siege on the order of the presidency.

Furthermore, he stated that the presidency had planned to arrest Mr. Sanusi to ensure that his appointment as emir would not materialise.

“We got information that they were planning to arrest him, so, we moved him to the Government House. I don’t want to imagine what would have happened if they succeeded,” he said.

The fracas in Kano started just after Sanusi was announced as the new emir of the state, a crisis alleged to have been orchestrated by the Presidency.
