The Bayelsa State Tourism Development Agency in concert with its development partners have concluded arrangements to organise this year’s edition of the Bayelsa International jazz festival 2014 holding from December 12th to 13th at the Gabriel Okra Cultural Centre in Yenagoa.

The world class annual entertainment event which was inaugurated last year amidst funfair was established as a deliberate project to promote sustainable and responsible tourism in the state.

The Bayelsa Jazz Festival which has in a short period acquired a global reputation in the international jazz music circuit has become a reference point in the entertainment scene in Nigeria and beyond.

The Director General of the tourism agency, Mrs Ebizi Ndiomu Brown in an interview with journalists In Yenagoa stated that that this year’s edition of the jazz fiesta will be unique and special in several ways because of the array of global super stars lined up to entertain guests at the occasion and unique training opportunities made available to young bayelsans in the state.

According to Mrs Brown, the training this year will be Conducted by professors from Trinity College of Music, the alma mata of Abami Eda, Fela Anikulapo Kuti,  the progenitor of Afro jazz music in Africa.

Already, a galaxy of stars including a Grammy award winning jazz impresario,  Earl Klum have agreed to perform live at the jazz fiesta. The comprehensive list of the  artistes on the bill will be unveiled on a later date, she observed.

Mrs Brown also hinted that an assemblage of experienced technical crew and stage managers have been hired to  oversee the the two day event.

According to the business development and project management expert, all hands are on deck to ensure the success of the jazz festival. Contacts are being made with potential partners and other support groups including other hospitality operators in the state to ensure a hitch free event.

The management of the agency is expected to organise a workshop for the organised private sector on the etiquette and the ideals of customer service, she revealed.

The director has advised all potential partners to take advantage of this windows of opportunities to promote and market their products and services to a wider audience during the event. And they will be given certificate of partnership.

It would be recalled that Hugh Masekela of South Africa, Somi, a Rhuwandan based in USA, Femi Kuti and several other artistes were On Hand To Perform To The Ecstatic Delight Of The Dignitaries And Guests Who Graced The Occasion Last Year.
