Miss Okota 2016: Ahmed Mariam being presented with her prize as winner

 

The serene atmosphere of Arigidi  Akoko, Ondo State, wore a different look on Friday, July 22.

 

This is because the town which is known for producing great men such as Otunba (Dr.) Gani Adams, convener Odua People’s Union Worldwide (OPU), went agog.

 

Tens of thousands of indigenes of Arigidi and other neighbouring towns trooped to Ayase Hall in Arigidi Akoko, as they awaited the emergence of a new Miss Okota.

 

Following a stern competition organised by Olokun Foundation, a renowned world class culture promoting organisation Miss  Ahmed Mariam, a student of Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State, emerged the new queen of the pageant which is known to engage the younger generation and serve as a link to their past.

Miss Ahmed was presented with a car, as her prize for emerging tops, while the first runner-up Miss Uzoka Gabrielle got prize of #100,000. On her part, second runner-up – Miss Foluso Amos will got prize of #75,000. Speaking during an interview with www.theoctopusnews.com, she said thus when asked how she felt about winning. “I am happy to be Queen. I know that it is God’s doing and i am going to use my tenure to make a difference. I hope to work with a lot of motherless homes before my reign comes to an end”, she said.

Miss Okota beauty Pageant is a prestigious contest organised by Olokun Foundation, a culture promoting organisation chaired by Otunba Gani Adams.

Over the years, it has gone on to make serious impression attracting guests from far and within.
