Africa’s Richest Man, Aliko Dangote Set To Commence Cement Production In Cameroon*** Details And Picture Of The $150 Million Douala Cement Factory

Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President Dangote Groups will commence a new phase of his business soon when a subsidiary of his organization, Dangote Cement, begins production at its $150 million Cameroon plant.

 

In a bid for Dangote to remain one of the biggest brands in Africa and perhaps the world Dangote Cement will kick off production in August 2015.

 

The plant, a 1.5 million tons per annum capacity, will commence initial production at one million tons annually before productions would be stepped to maximum capacity level.

 

The ultra modern factory in Douala, Cameroon, will revolutionalise the cement industry in Cameroon and help stimulate the Eastern African economy, by churning out its known quality grade of 42.5, its new brand of cement popularly known as the ‘Big Boss’, at a very competitive price.

 

Presently, the plant is ready for test running, as minor engineering finishing as well as access roads to the plant, are presently getting finishes touches. We hear, Cameroonians were eager to see Dangote Cement begin operations at the Douala plant because of the economic benefit, as over 1000 people would be employed directly by the plant while over 5000 would benefit from the indirect employment to be generated by production activities of the plant.

 

The General Manager of the plant, Abdulahi Baba, has been quoted saying that “We will produce 42.5 grade cement here in Cameroon and at a very competitive price. The Cement distributors here, the consumers are all eager to have our product and we will not disappoint them. They have been used to a particular product before, but we are offering them choices, quality choice at very reasonable price”.

 

Aliko Dangote, was born 10 April 1957. His Dangote Group, which employs over 11,000 people, has interests in commodities, operates in Nigeria and other African countries, including Benin, Cameroon, Ghana, South Africa, Togo and Zambia. It also has major investments in other lucrative pies like the real estate, banking, transport, textiles, telecoms and oil and gas. As of January 2015, Aliko Dangote, is ranked by Forbes magazine as the 67th richest person in the world and the richest in Africa, with estimated net worth of US$18.6
