2019: Governor Akinwunmi Ambode Kicks Off Early Campaign

As 2019 draws nearer, a systematic and strategic plan has been deployed by the Lagos state government to ensure that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode returns to office in the next election.

The plan involving ministries, department and agencies will see them individually and collectively working together to achieve this goal.

A source who spoke with this medium under anonymity revealed that some strategic ministries including the Ministry of Information and its tourism counterpart hold the key to the pre-election campaign.

“They are aware that 2019 is close and they have already started work. The past couple of weeks have witnessed strategic meetings with stakeholders of different industries and it will continue for a while before the election campaign is officially unveiled.”

Indeed, a meeting with selected industries did hold recently.

Governor Ambode, in some quarters is considered one of the most achieved Governors. His exploits in road construction, lighting up Lagos state, overhead bridges speaks volume and should naturally be reasons for a second term endorsement. However, the Governor is not considered popular in some parts of Lagos due to lack of development in such areas.

One of such areas is the Ibeju Lekki axis of the state where the Governor had promised heaven on earth during his first term campaign.

Information gleaned by www.theoctopusnews.com, revealed that a consultation involving the Governor and political stalwarts representing Ibeju-Lekki held recently in Epe where it was agreed that old things have passed away and all things have become new. We were informed that at the meeting, the Governor assured of his commitment to the local government and its people adding that things will be different during his second term in office.

This is however not the only area that the Governor has encountered negative interests, as the failed efforts to effectively manage the resurgence refuse in all parts of Lagos state has raised concerns. Despite ceaseless promises by Visionscape, an environmental utility company from UAE, the organisation saddled with making sure Lagos remains clean at all times has failed to live up to expectations.

The decision of the Governor to shelve a more efficient and effective Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) for a failed experiment has seen raised eyebrows, as the criteria for giving the company the job has been asked.

As you read, serious consultation is going on to appease nerves to support the candidature of Governor Ambode. As the days go by, we will update you.
